To prevent stains from occurring prior to finishing, use preventive measures throughout the entire installation phase:

After installation and finishing, and prior to sealing, be sure the surface is clean and grease free. O'Brien and Associates uses its own in-house degreasing detergent when the customer buys our Sealant Program.

A protective stain resistant sealant is recommended for countertops, and floors. Apply a stain resistant impregnating hydro-repellent protection or oil-repellent that will not alter the aesthetic appearance of the tiles. Please refer to manufacturer’s guidelines for application instructions of these products. If the customer has purchased the "Sealant Program" this procedure will be done onsite and warranted for one year to be acid resistant. Each year an extended warranty can be purchased and a onsite visit will take place. The product will be degreased, Resealed and polished. Another one year warranty will be issued to the customer. This procedure can continue for the life of the product which is fifty years.

To maintain surface luster, apply standard cleaning methods and use neutral detergents. Avoid cleaning products that contain acid (even when diluted), alkaline detergents, strong solvents and paint strippers. Cleaning can be simply done by a wet mop with a neutral detergent; then rinse thoroughly with clean water and let dry. O'Brien and Associates sells our in house cleaner. Product Information

No two tiles are alike. The consistent irregularity is one of the popular characteristics which create the allure of natural beauty by the blend of component materials that comprise this exotic material. It is recommended that tiles be laid side by side prior to installation to assure even color blends.

Glass and mother-of-pearl are elements that differ in structure from the stone chips. Occasionally, during the polishing process , one or more can become dislodged from the surface. These fissures can be evened out with suitable natural stone surface fillers.

After installation, some tiles may appear to lack uniform coloring. This is a natural phenomenon related to the evaporation process. When freshly installed, the humidity absorbed by the tiles from the adhesive can vary in tone from center to edges. It will disappear during the drying process.

Storage

Do not leave materials outdoors since climatic conditions could cause damage to the surface or finish. The Terrazzo Tiles and Slabs should be stored indoors.

Once received, install materials promptly. Do not leave materials in storage for any length of time as moisture and light can alter condition of materials. Long term storage could cause discoloration or fluorescence, especially in lighter colors.

Terrazzo is made of natural re-cycled stone components. The technical data may vary somewhat with each color blend..
